LIVING BY FAITH(1)

Suppose we are traveling by a sailboat from one place to another. At the beginning of the journey, the wind blows in the right direction, and we hoist the sail. After a while the wind stops. Should we take out our oars and row, or should we anchor and wait until a good wind comes before we set sail again? If we want to reach our destination sooner, we have to try our best to row. At such times we are exerting the true strength we have. This is only an illustration. When we are excited in our emotion, we are like a boat sailing with the wind; the boat does not have to exert any effort. We
wish that there could be smooth sailing all year round. If the direction of the wind changed, they would not know what to do. When God gives us favorable wind, we praise Him. But He is also stirring us up to exercise the resurrection
power given to us. God gives us the dryness, so that when joy and excitement are tract present, we would exercise our own strength (the strength we received at the time of our regeneration). In this way, we will be able to pass through hindrances and contrary winds. The power of resurrection is more clearly demonstrated in an environment filled with
death.

예를 들어 우리가 작은 배 한 척을 타고 어느 곳에 간다 하자. 여행을 떠날 때 순풍이 불면 돛으로 가기가 참으로 좋다. 얼마 안 가서 바람이 그쳤다. 그러면 우리는 노를 저어 전진하는가, 닻을 내려 두번째 순풍을
기다리는가? 우리가 목적지에 빨리 도착하기를 원한다면 반드시 힘껏 노를 저을 것이다. 이때 우리는 우리가 갖은 참된 힘을 사용하는 것이다 이것은 하나의 예일 따름이다. 우리의 감정이 열광할 때에는 순풍이 배를 전진하게 하므로 우리가 힘을 쓸 필요가 없다. 우리는 일 년 내내 다 순풍을 바란다 역풍을 만나면 그들은 어떻게 할 바를 모른다. 하나님이 순풍을 주실 때 우리는 그분을 찬양한다. 그러나 어떤 때에는 하나님이
당신에게 역풍을 주시어 당신으로 하여금 그가 이미 주신 부활의 능력을 사용하게 하신다 하나님이 우리에게 고갈됨을 허락하시는 것은 우리에게 기쁨이 없고 열광됨이 없을지라도 우리가 거듭날 때 얻은 능력을
사용하게 하려는 것이다 이렇게 할 때 당신은 역풍을 만나더라도 전진할 수 있게 된다. 부활의 능력은 죽음에 둘러싸인 가운데서 더욱 현저히 나타나는 것이다.
