The Individual and the Corporate

"Whether we were beside ourselves, it was to God; or whether we are sober-minded it is for you" (2 Corinthians 5:13)

Being beside ourselves is being crazy; we do this to God. But we are sober-minded for others. On one hand, this is very personal; on the other hand, this is very corporate. Being beside ourselves is a personal matter. Being
sober-minded is a corporate matter. For example, a person may study the Bible by himself in the morning. He may receive some light from the Lord and unconsciously hit the table a few times. There is nothing wrong with this. While I am standing here today, if I hit the table when I think of a verse, would you not say that I am unsound? Paul was beside himself before God but sober-minded before men.

개인과 단체

만일 미쳤어도 하나님을 위한 것이요 만일 정신이 온전하여도 너희를 위함이니 (고후 5:13)

미치는 것은 하나님을 위한 것이다. 그러나 다른 면에서 정신이 온전함은 사람을 위한 것이다 한면은 개인적인것이고, 또 한면은, 단체적인 것이다. 미쳤음은 개인적인 것이고, 정신이 온전함은 단체적인 것이다. 예를 들어, 이른 아침에 당신 혼자 성경을 읽을 때 주님의 비췸으로 인하여 탁자를 몇번 치는 것은 문제가 되지 않는다. 그러나 내가 만일 오늘 여기서 어떤 성경 구절이 생각나서 자리에서 일어나 탁자를 심하게 친다면 여러분은 나를 미쳤다고 말하지 않겠는가? 바울은 하나님 앞에서 미쳤고 사람 앞에서는 정신이 온전하였다.
