LIVING BY FAITH(2)

Our experience of acquiring the truth is similar to the experience of the vase. When the flowers and letters are first painted, we think everything is fine. But we cannot stand any touching and are destroyed by any washing. The truth is
not ours; we only understand it in our mind and are excited In our feeling. We rejoice over it a little too soon. We have to remember that every time we go through a test, it is to help us to possess the truth that we have just heard. Suppose we have just heard the truth concerning patience. A test will come to make us impatient. The test we will face will put
us in exactly the opposite place of the truth we received in our feeling. God wants to put us through the burning of the furnace. Many people go into the furnace and never come out again. But if we go through the fire and come out again, what we have acquired will be firm. Then we will be on the mountaintop once again. The truth which we received before is unusable; but the truth we now have is usable. The sword which we acquired before could not be used to
fight; the sword we now have, can. What we had before was only a nice outward appearance; what we now have within is something solid. Previously, we were in the realm of the mind and the emotion; now we have really acquired
something.

우리가 진리를 얻는 체험은 화병의 체험과 비슷하다. 처음 꽃을 그리고 글을 썼을 때 모든 것이 좋다고 생각한다. 그러나 부딪칠 때 참을 수 없고 씻을 때 지워진다. 우리가 생각 안에서 깨닫고 느낌 안에서 흥분했던
진리들은 우리의 것이 아니다. 우리는 너무 빨리 즐거워한다. 우리가 시험을 통과할 때 기억할 것은 우리가 들은 진리들이 우리의 것이 되도록 도와준다는 것이다. 당신이 인내에 관한 진리를 들었을 때 당신이 만나는
일들은 다 당신을 조급하게 한다. 언제나 당신이 받는 시험은 감정 안에서 얻은 진리와 상반되는 것이다. 하나님이 당신을 가마 안에 넣어 굽는다. 많은 사람들이 가마 안에 들어가서 다시는 나오지 않는다. 그러나
불을 거치고 나오면 우리가 얻은 것이 견고해진다. 이때 당신은 또다시 산봉우리에 올라가게 된다. 전에 느낌에서 얻은 진리는 쓸 수 없으나 지금은 쓸 수 있다. 전에는 싸움에 쓸 수 없는 검이었지만 지금은 쓸 수
있는 검이다. 전에는 외관상으로만 보기 좋았지만 지금은 안에도 튼튼하다. 전에는 생각과 감전 안에 있던 것이 지금은 실지로 당신의 것이 되었다.
